Full facelift
Dr. Vennemeyer's full facelift treats the face and neck in one combined procedure. The strong deep connective tissue layer of the face and neck, called the SMAS, is tightened first to reshape the cheeks, jawline and neck. Next, the excess skin is removed through incisions hidden along the ears and hairline. The facelift depends on the deep layers of the face, not the skin. The skin is closed under minimal tension, which minimizes risk of the windblown or over-tightened look. Dr. Vennemeyer often uses fat injection during facelifts to restore facial volume lost during the aging process.
Mini-Facelift
Dr. Vennemeyer's mini-facelift involves treatment of your face without any rejuvenation of your neck. This works well for people with jowls and cheek descent, without any neck droop. The incision is shorter than a full facelift.
Skin-only Facelift
Skin only facelifts tighten the face by using the skin. Because the skin maintains the tension of the lift, an un-natural, over-tightened appearance can result. Dr. Vennemeyer only uses this technique in very specific circumstances.
What to expect after a facelift
- Time off work: 1-2 weeks in most cases
- Avoid exertion: 3 weeks in most cases
- Mild to moderate bruising and swelling in most cases
- Mild discomfort for 5-7 days
- Stitches to be removed at 1 week. Makeup okay after stitches out.
- Look presentable at 1-2 weeks, depending on the amount of surgery. Fat grafting requires more healing time
- Look natural in pictures 4-6 weeks after procedure
- Final result 6-12 months
