A huge THANK YOU to our patients for helping Dr. V rank #1 in Texas & TOP 1% nationally for 2021 Allergan Breast Implant Volume in a single surgeon practice!!!
To maintain the best possible results of a breast augmentation can sometimes require revision procedures. We offer a full range of revision breast augmentation procedures to help you maximize your result. Dr. Vennemeyer treats women who request revision procedures to change size, change to silicone implants, improve perkiness, improve asymmetry, improve rippling, improve capsular contracture, replace ruptured implants or permanently remove breast implants.
Change Breast Implant Size
Do you wish you were a different cup size? Women have many reasons that they may choose to change the size of their breast implants. Some simply want to be larger or smaller. Others want to increase their implant size to restore lost volume after breastfeeding, pregnancy or weight loss. There are important factors to consider when electing to change your implant size. Changing to a smaller size may require the skin to contract for a good result. If you are going larger, you must consider the potential impact of more weight on your tissues over time. During your consultation, Dr. Vennemeyer will help you understand the factors to consider in your particular circumstance.
Change from Saline to Silicone Breast Implants
If you have saline implants and do not like the feel, silicone implants may be a good alternative for you. Women who have visible implant rippling may also elect to switch to silicone implants for their lower tendency to produce visible ripples. In our experience, most women who switch from saline to silicone like the feel of their silicone implants better and achieve a more natural appearing breast augmentation.
Improve Perkiness
Breast implants do not prevent your breasts from sagging over time. As breast tissue droops and breast implants stay in the same place, you can develop "snoopy breasts" where the resulting profile resembles the cartoon character's head. This can often be improved with a breast lift, known as mastoplexy. If the existing implants have been in place a long time, it may be advisable to replace them at the time of the lift.
Improve Asymmetry
Breast asymmetry after breast augmentation is expected to some degree, because no one has perfectly symmetrical breasts. If significant asymmetry persists after breast augmentation, improvement may be possible with revision procedures.
Improve Rippling
Rippling is most common with saline implants. The thinner your tissues, the higher your risk of developing this. Multiple techniques may be used to improve the visibility or palpability of rippling. These range from changing implants of silicone, changing the plane of the implants from over to under the muscle, fat grafting or implantation of biological mesh-like products.
Improve Capsular Contracture
Capsular contracture can develop soon after breast augmentation or years later. If you are distressed by the appearance or feel of your breasts resulting from capsular contracture, you may wish to consider surgical options for improvement. Procedures generally focus on removing the thickened capsule of scar tissue that is present in capsular contracture.
Replace Ruptured Implants
This is not an emergency, but it will probably feel like one if this happens to you. Breast implants are unlikely to last forever. When saline implants leak, the saline is absorbed by your body and you will probably notice a decrease in the size of the affected breast. When silicone implants rupture, you may not notice a change in size. We understand this can be a stressful situation and Dr. Vennemeyer will always try to see women concerned about rupture as soon as possible.
Removal of Breast Implants
Some women decide to have their breast implants removed. There are multiple factors to consider when predicting the resulting size and shape. A breast lift, at the same time or staged later, is sometimes needed to get the best shape possible.
Synmastia Correction
Synmastia can occur when breast implants get too close together and the breasts appear to blend together. Surgery can improve the appearance to restore more natural appearing cleavage.
